Last year for my birthday I got to make over our Master Bedroom. Our walls were bare and sad. Used to, I would put anything on a wall just to have something on it. When we built this house I said I wouldn’t put anything on the walls until it was exactly what I wanted. It’s been a struggle for me, looking at emptiness, but our Master Bedroom is finally decorated!
I of course went to Pinterest for ideas and I came across this photo as one of my inspirations. I knew if I could find those shelves (except longer…) it would be perfect!

I also came across this photo for our other wall. I liked this one because it shows how to decorate around a tv.

So how did ours turn out? Well it definitely doesn’t look exactly like theirs. Our bedroom is a darker grey color (and we have black furniture) so it changes the look quite a bit; but I was still super excited for how it turned out. I couldn’t find the shelves in our town so I looked online and found some. They were mediocre and they cost $300 so…we made our own.
The white shelf above the television was actually supposed to be our living room mantle when we built our home but it looked odd above the fireplace. So I kept it, painted it white, and used it as a shelf in our bedroom.
We did our shelves a little bit different than the first inspiration picture, which was all Josh’s idea and I loved it. I stained the wood, spray painted the things Josh used to hang the shelves and voila! Done!
And that’s it! The bedroom make-over. Thank you Pinterest for all of your ideas – you never disappoint.
